02 / Coordinated applications

From the school entrance to the classroom

Exterior school identification can be coordinated with classroom and room names and department directories. The archive documents the exterior assembly and the interior sign system: two different constructions serving the same facility.

These are documented examples, not mandatory sizes for every school or an education-authority endorsement. Structure and exterior fixing details are reviewed for the proposed site.

Healthcare

Room and department identification, building directories and wall-mounted or suspended directions.

Offices

Office and reception identification and floor directories, using modular profiles or glass and acrylic panels.

Retail & hospitality

Façade letters and logos, suspended directions, and illuminated room signs and numbers.

03 / Fixing & materials

The face is not the structure

A sign involves more than a face colour or material. Separate the information surface, supporting structure and fixing method, then consider graphics and illumination.

Wall-mounted, projecting, suspended or freestanding

A wall sign is read near the room; a projecting sign is visible along a corridor; a suspended sign brings directions above visitor movement; a freestanding sign identifies the site. The number of faces is separate from the mounting method.

Archive suspension detail showing a steel rod and tube, sign frame and acrylic spacer.
Archive technical detail — a separate suspended assembly, not the wall detail, folio 4.

Face, structure & finish

Aluminium and PVC for modular faces; glass and acrylic for panels; stainless steel, brass and aluminium for letters. The structure may use aluminium profiles or steel, with cladding or a finish distinct from the face material. Examples include anodizing, powder coating, paint and polished stainless steel.

Graphics are not the panel material

Silkscreen printing, cut vinyl, inkjet printing, cut-metal graphics and sandblasting are different information treatments. The choice depends on the face and design; naming a process does not claim ownership of a particular machine.

Illuminated, reflective or photoluminescent

Edge lighting illuminates the edge of glass or acrylic; internal lighting sits inside a cabinet or letter. Reflective graphics return incident light, while photoluminescent material glows after light exposure; neither is powered illumination. Archive technologies are not an electrical specification for a new order.

The drawings are technical illustrations, not installation instructions. Dimensions, thicknesses and foundation details belong to the depicted example and must be reviewed for the new order and site. System names visible in drawings are catalogue supplier references, not proprietary Al Othman product lines.
